Treen Farm Campsite, Penzance
If it’s sea views you’re looking for, then Treen Farm could be perfect for your camping trip. Situated just outside of Penzance on Cornwall’s beautiful Southwest coastline.
The site is quite small, and therefore unsuitable for large motorhomes (over 6.7 meters long), but otherwise it’s great for campervans and small to medium size tents. We thought the cute picnic bench on every grassed pitch was a great touch, and perfect for summer alfresco dining.
Situated just a couple of fields back from the famous Cornwall coastal path, it’s just a 10-minute walk down to the glorious Pedn Vounder and Porthcurno beaches. Although be mindful that the track down onto the beach is quite steep and could be difficult with smaller children or dogs.
Fires are not permitted on the campsite, which is unfortunate, as we love to toast marshmallows in the evenings next to the van. However, there is a beautiful communal fire pit where occasionally talented local musicians will play, creating a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere.
Treen Farm do not have an advance booking system. This means that it’s a first come, first served basis. Our advice is that you park up just outside of the campsite around 0800 on the morning of arrival, and wander into the onsite shop to speak with the owners. You will then be able to reserve a spot and have time to do a little exploring before it’s time to set up on your pitch.

Henry’s Campsite, Helston
If you want something just a little bit different, then Henry’s Campsite could be the one for you. Here you will be surrounded by tropical flowers and plants, which give an amazingly exotic vibe to the place. Henry’s has a style all of it’s own, and is unique in all senses of the word.
Most of the pitches have a sea view, and the sunsets are truly incredible. Just be sure to wear a pair of sunglasses so that you can really enjoy the spectacle. Dogs are welcomed out of season, however during the school holiday periods they are not permitted unfortunately.
The coastal path is only 10 minutes away on foot, where you can access the beautiful scenery and nearby pristine beaches like Pentreath and Housel Bay.
For us, Henry’s greatest charm is it’s warming sense of community. The owners are super friendly and welcoming, and work hard to make sure everyone feels at home here. Walking around the site you will marvel at the amazing wood sculptures and colourful plant life. The village of Lizard itself offers cafes, a fish and chip shop, butchers and gift shops.

Number of Pitches – 56
Facilities? All Electric Hook Up Pitches, Showers, Onsite Shop, Washing Facilities, Communal Fire Pit, BBQ hire

Treverven Touring Park and Campsite, St Buryan
Ideally situated for visiting Cornish gems like the Minack Theatre and one of Europe’s finest beaches Sennen Cove, Treverven is a well maintained, family run campsite. Most of the pitches have stunning coastal and rural views, and the coastal path is only a quick 10 minute stroll away. The nearest beaches are Porthcurno and Pedn Vounder, which are about a 20-25 mins walk away along the coastal path. A short drive of about 15 mins and you can be at the popular surfing location of Sennen beach.
Close to the site, a short walk into the picturesque village of St Buryan and you’ll find a post office, shop and a pub. But this site really gives you a great Bolt Hole to go and explore all parts of western Cornwall, in particular places like St Ives, The Minack Theatre and St Michael’s Mount.
For the kids, there is a fantastic adventure playground which is sure to keep them entertained while the adults do the washing up, or simply sit back and absorb the fantastic scenery.
My wife is an avid Poldark fan, and Porthgwarra beach which features in the BBC show is close by which made for a cool day out. If you like fishing, then there are easy to reach rocky areas just down from the coastal path for you to try your luck, and maybe bring home some tasty fish to BBQ at the campsite.

Highertown Farm Campsite, Looe
Highertown is a secluded and peaceful campsite which is part of the National Trust. The site is very relaxed, with no reception office when you arrive you simply ‘self-register’ and then choose where you’d like to camp for the night. There are National Trust Rangers who pop by from time to time to make sure everyone is OK.
On site there is barn where you can get information on attractions and the local area, as well as ice in the summer months. There is no shop however, and this means it’s a short drive into Polperro or Polruan if you need supplies.
About a 20-minute walk along the nearby coastal path, and you’ll find Lansallos Beach which is a beautiful and secluded cove. The beach is a mixture of sandy pebbles, so taking some beach shoes or flip-flops is definitely a good idea. The walk there is magnificent, following a rural trial along streams and woodland until you meet the ocean.
Highertown is a very Eco-Friendly and sustainable campsite, as the hot water is powered through solar energy and the site uses composting toilets. There is lots of space for the little ones to enjoy, and the campsite feels very safe and secure.
Fowey is definitely worth a visit, and you can hop on the short Bodinnick Ferry crossing to go and explore the narrow winding streets full of delightful shops and places to eat.
Type of accommodation – Tents, campervans and small motorhomes
Number of Pitches – 30
Facilities – Play area, electric hook up, toilets and showers, washing up area,
Nearby – Lansallos Beach (about 10 mins walking), Looe and Fowey are a drive away.
Dogs welcome? Yes, maximum of 2 per pitch

Higher Pentreath Campsite, Praa Sands
We love staying at High Pentreath as it’s so close to Praa Sands which is one of our favourite beaches on the South Coast of Cornwall. It’s a family friendly and family run campsite, with very good facilities and even free wi-fi to all areas. You can literally stroll down to the sandy shoreline of Praa Sands in less than 10 minutes, and the terrain is easy to negotiate.
The views of the coastline are epic, but be aware that some of the pitches area on a slight slope so best to bring chocks with you.
There is a seasonal shop on the campsite where you can grab things like milk and butter, but if you need more supplies then there is a Co-Op about 5 mins drive away which is handy. You are able to use your own fire pits and
BBQ’s, but they need to be kept away from the grass to avoid spoiling the beautifully kept pitches.
Flambards Theme Park (https://www.flambards.co.uk) is only about 15 minutes away in the car, and is a great place to entertain the kids if the weather isn’t great.
As with most of the campsites listed on the article, Higher Pentreath is ideally situated for those who want to jump in the car and explore the many different places to see in West Cornwall. I’d recommend going to Marazion and walking the causeway out to the historic St Michaela Mount island.
Type of accommodation – Tents, campervans and caravans.
Number of Pitches – 90
Facilities – Free Wi-Fi, electric hook up, toilets and showers, washing up area, bicycle rack, hair dryers, seasonal onsite shop
Nearby – Praa Sands Beach (6 min walk), Porthleven and St Michaels Mount
Dogs welcome? Yes
